Message from NAFSA Membership Engagement Committee,
Patti Jones, Chair
May 22, 2018
Greetings fellow NAFSAns,
As the Chair of the Membership Engagement Committee (MEC), it is my pleasure to find new and meaningful ways to engage our diverse membership. The upcoming Annual Conference in Philadelphia is one of the most exciting chances to meet members and other international educators face-to-face. The MEC looks forward to the following AC activities:
- MIG Leader Luncheon, where the MEC celebrates and recognizes the leaders of our 30+ Member Interest Groups (MIGs).
- Thirty MIG Open Meetings will occur this year. The MEC, in partnership with the Leadership Development Committee (LDC), will attend each of the open meetings.
- As in previous years, the MEC has continued to support programming in the Career Center. Attend the panel, Hiring Practices: Increasing Staff Diversity on Thursday, May 31 at 2:30-3:30 p.m. in the Career Center.
- We are excited that awardees will be recognized during plenary sessions, Wednesday and Thursday, for the NAFSA International Education Awards.
- The Diversity and Inclusion dialogue, held Thursday, May 31 at 9:00-10:15 a.m., will focus on promoting diversity in international education as well as equity and access on campus.
NAFSA is a dynamic organization only because our members are engaged and dynamic participants.
